About Me...
I firmly believe that it's not about how you start but how you finish, and what truly matters is finishing strong.
I was born and raised in White Plains, NY, within the housing projects. From a very young age, I recognized the vast opportunities the world had to offer. Growing up alongside my three siblings, one of whom is my fraternal twin sister, we were raised in a two-family household. Despite the numerous obstacles in our path, all four of us defied the odds by attaining bachelor's and master's degrees.
My journey into community outreach began early, thanks to the influence of my mother. She was deeply committed to our education, actively participating as a dedicated PTA mom and leading various community cleanup initiatives within our apartment building.
Even in my youth, I knew I aspired to more than my current circumstances allowed. I realized that not only obtaining a high school diploma was crucial, but I also recognized that pursuing higher education was my ticket out of the housing projects, and I was determined to seize that opportunity.
For over 20 years, I have been a dedicated member of my community, taking on various roles such as a trained scout leader, scout advancement chair, baseball mom, international travel group leader, school volunteer, book club president, and more. These experiences have molded me into the resilient and compassionate individual I am today, consistently striving to overcome challenges and give back to the community that has played such a pivotal role in my journey.
I have been married to Dr. Paul Brown for 27 years. He holds the position of Associate Professor, Chair of the Decision Science Department, and Director of the Supply Chain Program at Clark Atlanta University. We have two sons, Sterling, and Joseph, both of whom are Morehouse graduates.
